Abstract

According to the most recent official figures, about 2 million Central Asian migrant workers live in Moscow which is becoming “Europe’s largest Muslim city” (Hanrahan, 2015). The aim of this article is to broaden the cultural definition of present-day Moscow, focusing on its current soundscape as an indicator of social, religious, and cultural change.
